Amazon could become the new home for just about anything Philip K. Dick.
The streaming service has just ordered a new anthology series from actor (and up-and-coming producer) Bryan Cranston and Outlander showrunner Ronald D. Moore, that will bring many of the late author’s short stories to life.
Dick’s works, of course, have been made into many television shows and movies over the years. Amazon, in fact, is the recipient of one of them – The Man in the High Castle, which was renewed for a third season earlier this year.
He’s also the author behind such box office hits as Blade Runner in 1982, Total Recall in 1990, Minority Report in 2002 (which was an unsuccessful Fox series in 2015), and A Scanner Darkly in 2006 that starred Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder and Robert Downey Jr.
This new collaboration is called Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, a title based on the name of Dick’s 1968 novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, which became Blade Runner and serves as the basis for the upcoming Blade Runner 2049.
Electric Dreams is set for 10 episodes, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and will include both American and British writers. Cranston himself is expected to star in the series, playing a number of different characters Dick wrote about in his career.
Cranston has won six Emmys (and was nominated for an Oscar in 2016 for Trumbo), both for his acting and his executive producer role in AMC’s hit series Breaking Bad.
He’s also an executive producer on another Amazon series he co-created with House‘s David Shore, Sneaky Pete, where he also takes on the recurring role of Vince.
Electric Dreams will be produced by Sony Television and Channel 4, one of Britain’s major broadcast networks. The writing team includes Moore, who really broke into the scene in the early 2000s with the Syfy hit Battlestar Galactica, and Michael Dinner, who won a directing Emmy in 1990 for The Wonder Years.
Dick himself died in 1982 after suffering a stroke at the age of 53, just months before Blade Runner premiered.
Amazon has not set a schedule yet for when the series will film or roll out, but it mostly likely will be in early 2018.
Cranston, by the way, will star in Power Rangers, coming to theaters March 24.
